Distinguished Alumni Awards

On February 20, 2014, the UWI Alumni Association (Trinidad and Tobago Chapter) honoured twenty-five (25) distinguished alumni in the second edition of its Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA) programme. The first group of fifty (50) Distinguished Alumni were honoured in April 2011 in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the St Augustine Campus.

The Pelican Award, the UWIAA's highest peer award established in 1967, was awarded for the first time by the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter to H.E. Sir Edwin Carrington, former ACP and CARICOM Secretary General.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards is the UWI Alumni Association (Trinidad and Tobago Chapter) signature peer recognition scheme. The Programme celebrates the many outstanding and diverse accomplishments of all University of the West Indies graduates who have distinguished themselves — and their alma mater — through their contributions to their profession and their national, regional or international community. These awards will be conferred biennially.
